Wabasha Levee

Wabasha Levee was born in 1919 to a Jewish father and a Native American mother. He was adopted by a Japanese couple at birth. Until his 21st birthday he was known as Wabasha Nagasaki. At 21 he turned down his Rhodes
Scholarship to become a deckhand on a riverboat and assumed his father's
surname. He quickly realized that "decking" was a lot of work and set his sights upon the wheelhouse. Although he is now retired, he is the only Eddie to have been a riverboat captain. Wabasha's musical influence is derived from all those little radio stations from Baton Rouge to Memphis, Vicksburg to Hannibal and from Cairo (pronounced Kay-row) to Redwing. He appreciates everything from Cajun folk to German polkas. Nominally a Westsider, Mr. Levee keeps a retirement home in the 55104 zip code.
